Creating Our Reality

Are we willing to accept the powerful truth that we create our own reality through our thoughts, words, and actions? It can be easy to blame others for the way things have turned out. But is this really accurate?

If we are honest with ourselves, we realize that every aspect of our life is the result of the choices we have made. This can be painful to accept because we would rather point the finger of blame, thereby convincing ourselves that our life is the result of what others have done to us.

If every facet of our life is our responsibility, then so is our healing and the resulting growth from any painful experience we may have had. If we look at a painful memory we may notice that when we relive the experience, we are also reliving the pain. Yet it is our choice to focus on a painful situation that happened in our past.

We may not be able to change the past, but we can heal and move forward to a healthier place emotionally, if we choose to do so. This is where creating our life through our thoughts, words, and actions, come into play.

By choosing to see our past as a place of tremendous learning, we can grow emotionally from almost any experience. Even if we begin to love ourselves a bit more, we will be better off than if we chose to remain in the past emotionally.

Learning from a painful experience can be a struggle at times because it is easier to blame than take responsibility for moving forward. Also we can create an identity from the negative experience. In some cases, identifying as a victim can be easier than doing the inner work that would promote healing.

Yet it all comes down to the choices we are willing to make. We can choose to heal, or we can choose to remain a victim. We can choose to take little steps leading us toward self-love, away from being the victim.

With each small step we take, we gain strength and courage to challenge our self-doubt, and silence our negative self-talk. With each new step we take, we begin the process of changing our narrative to one with a foundation rooted in self-love.

With this new self-loving narrative we form a life based on love. Every thought, word, and action, founded on love, creates new possibilities based on love. Our self-doubt, and negative self-talk begin to lose their strength as we learn to love ourselves unconditionally.

Sure we may occasionally fall back into old patterns of behavior, yet we know that we are doing our best, and the path forward is through our self-love. Through this love, we begin an honest dialogue with ourselves, knowing that within us is the path to lasting healing. We realize that doing the work to heal from past trauma is an act of true self-love.

With each loving thought, word, and action, our life will shift toward the life we have always wanted to live. We now have no need to blame others because we understand that we can create the life we have always wanted to live. A life filled with love, kindness, and compassion. This is the power of knowing that we create our own reality.

Each week I email an article to those who subscribe to my weekly. This week I wrote about finding moments of stillness in our busy day. Here is an excerpt.

We often think we need to meditate for an hour before we can reach a sense of inner peace. This may seem appealing, although not very practical in the busy times we live. What if we learned to find stillness in the brief pauses of our day?
